AKRON/FAMILY - including the yet to be released "Set 'Em Wild, Set 'Em Free"

Akron/Family is a folk-influenced experimental rock band that formed in 2002, and is currently based in parts New York City, and Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Though each member of the band—Dana Janssen, Seth Olinsky, and Miles Seaton—can be relegated to loosely defined roles (drummer, vocalist/guitarist, and bassist, respectively), all of them in fact play several instruments and sing, as evidenced by their shows and recorded material: Live, the band uses improvisation and three-part harmonies in prominence. On their self-titled debut record, field recordings of a creaking chair, thunderclaps and the white noise of a television find their way alongside psychedelic and electronic elements, guitars and a glockenspiel. - wikipedia

definitely look into bands like animal collective, angels of light, grizzly bear and vetiver.

ANIMAL COLLECTIVE

Animal Collective is a New York City/Washington, D.C/Lisbon based music collective of avant-garde musicians from Baltimore, Maryland. Animal Collective consists of Avey Tare (David Portner), Panda Bear (Noah Lennox), Deakin (Josh Dibb), and Geologist (Brian Weitz). Records released under the name Animal Collective may include contributions from any or all of these members; the lineup is not uniform. The band members met in school and started recording together in various forms of collaboration from a young age. Although the band is often classified as psych folk or noise rock, it is hard to define the Animal Collective sound as they often experiment with diverse styles and ideas from album to album. The group also runs the record label Paw Tracks. - last.fm

if you like this definitely check out panda bear's solo records, which have a similar sound to "strawberry jam" and "merriweather post pavilion." avey tare also has a record out with wife, kria brekkan of múm. you might also want to look into grizzly bear, black dice, akron/family and deerhunter.

COCOROSIE

CocoRosie is a duo from America that was formed by Sierra Casady (Rosie) and Bianca Casady (Coco) in 2003. Sierra and Bianca Casady are American half-Cherokee sisters. Sierra, the older of the two, was born in Iowa, and Bianca was born in Hawaii. Their mother nicknamed them Rosie and Coco, respectively, from which their musical act takes its name. Stylistically they may be assigned to the indie rock, psych folk, folk-tronic genres, and are sometimes associated with the new weird america movement. - last.fm

ASTRONAUTALIS

It was only after having chosen the name Astronautalis for himself while in high school in Jacksonville, FL, that the rapper (born Andy Bothwell) began to make himself heard in the local circuit, winning battles and competing at the Scribble Jam. Though he was known for his witty freestyling, Astronautalis’ musical influences and interests fell outside the hip-hop realm, as well, and he performed on the Warped Tour for three years. - last.fm

He has been described as "if Beck were a decade or so younger and had grown up more heavily immersed in hip-hop," with his rapping style noted for "blending styles of indie rock, electro, and talkin’ blues" with hip-hop, although his second album showed a turn towards a style close to shoegazer rock. - wikipedia

This guy doesn't have a single bad soong. If you're into it I also suggest listening to Why? (who will have their own post soon enough).
